Empower Rural Women
Non-discrimination of all human regardless of gender is one of the guarantees to realisation of human rights. However, inadequate knowledge on human rights especially among women and girls and their space in the Constitution of Kenya (CoK) 2010 is a great challenge in promoting gender equity at all levels. ICE aims at reaching out to 10,000 women in 2016-2020 period through civic education forums to sensitise them on their rights and space as enshrined in the CoK.
ICE seeks to address gender inequality by increasing participation levels by women in governance and decision making from local to national level. Key among this will be provision of information and knowledge to women on citizenry rights, as well as increasing community support for women’s leadership. ICE will also seek to engage men and traditional governance institutions to ensure a favourable environment for women’s leadership.
