Communal resources including land, forests, waters, pasturelands and minerals have
over the years been privatized through corrupt processes that have prevailed in
Kenya
since colonial times. Such communal resources have mainly been allocated to individuals
or private companies, who eventually exploit the resources without due regard to
communal use.
The organization works with communities to map out key communal resources with a
focus to use community-led indigenous knowledge to sustainably conserve such resources.
This process is involving other local stakeholders especially provincial administration,
local county councils and other development actors.
